The most explainable theory is that we basically still have the 2020 Model Y that they are producing in Shanghai, which has the older max cargo load capacity of 2371kg, since Shanghai is not producing the 7-seat version yet.
In early 2021 when Tesla Fremont started producing the 7-seat version, both 5 and 7 seat 2021 Model Y had its max cargo load capacity increased to 2591kg.
And yes, there is no reason why our Model Y cannot have 2591kg max cargo load capacity (tillatt maksvekt) as well, since both 2021 US Model Y and our Model Y from Shanghai have the same max axle last capacity of 2863kg.
So its up to Tesla if they going to bother helping us out or not, with updating our "vognkort" later on. They have done it with the Model S a couple years back. So they are capable of doing it if they really want to.
In all honesty, maybe we should hope for Vegvesen to start setting up frequent weigh controls and pulling Tesla's from the road, so we get a lot of angry people and media attention.
This is the only way to get attention from Tesla and them taking action.
