I had the same condition with my Zebra two years ago, red triangle and limp home modus. After turning off ignition back home it was all dead. That was internal isolation error, unfortunately. Let's hope it's something else.
Yes. I read your posts about it. I will try to check with a workshop that has the SW to reset the error codes. For now the car is with "life support" with a 12V battery charger connected to the cigarette socket 2 hours a day.

for @Catalin A. See attached image. I can't include attachments in PM.

Hello,
The car has 7 years and 66000km. After driving the car for an hour or so the red triangle light went on and a few minutes later a total loss of power. Back at home, the car doesn't charge and doesn't heat the battery either and the red triangle light stays on when trying to charge or start the car. OVMS fault command seems to indicate an internal isolation fault (see attached image). Doesn't look good, right?

Ikke strøm til aktuator som skal frigjøre girstang fra P(ark).

Mulige feil:

I think i'm having this problem too, but it happens intermittently and still didn't have to call the truck driver neither to do the manual release: http://thinkcitypdx.com/blog/index3116.html?p=772. Let's hope it works for two more days before I bring the car to service.

Thanks Nicolay. I'll check it.

Hi,

I'm having a weird issue with headlights. From time to time (last time yesterday) the light switch stops working properly and the low beams don't turn on when the switch is in position. Additionally, if I pull the lever to activate the high beams, they turn on but don't stay on when releasing the lever. It stays that way for a while (may be hours or even days) until eventually (still don't know why and how) the high beams stay on on a pull and pulling again the lever, the high beams go off and the low beams turn (magically) on. After that, usually the lights works fine again or I have to repeat the procedure (light switch + pull twice the lever) for a few days or weeks in order to turn on the low beams. I'm fearing the whole thing breaks down and I'm no able to drive in the night anymore.

This last time, when I detected the problem, the car had been for two days without charging or been connected, and 12V battery voltage went down to 12,2V (from OVMS reading), but this battery has been changed less than two years ago and I haven't had any issues with it until now.

Any thoughts about what could be the "culprit"?

thanks

Interesting question (sorry, only English here).

Anybody has tried to push the car to know the real limits? I did once 3 or 4 km with the battery low level indicator blinking before arriving to the plug, but with too much anxiety to try to continue until the car refused to go.

Doesn't this charger (CTEK) come standard in every Think A306? I didn't put it there inside the hood. It came with the car.

...Good news. I came back this evening and that the car went "online" OK. I left it plugged this morning and it has charged from 60 to 85% even though it didn't begin to charge when I plugged it. I have just discovered that this one:

...seems to be charging the 12v battery when the car is plugged:

http://www.ctek.com/es/en/chargers/MXS%205.0

Only then?

Hi, I have left the car outside in the cold for 3 days and when I came back it refused to start. Power limit flashing, some weird sounds and the symbol of the battery in red. The car doesn't charge either. I read 10v in 12v battery from OVMS and also windows go up and down very slowly.  From other threads I suspect (and hope) 12v battery is the culprit. Anybody has tried to recharge it using one charger/manteiner connected to the 12v outlet (cigarette lighter) or it should be better to connect directly to the battery? Does the procedure from the image below also apply to zebra Thinks when trying to access to the battery?

Thanks

at nabobil.no you may hire a tesla Model 85D for same price i think :-)
and your Route to Geiranger is no problem.  i drive geiranger Bergen in one route witout charging.  And the charging in geiranger is super :-)
Hi, what charger do you use at Geiranger? And do you need a specific card or you can use credit card or something else? Thanks

...following Øggen tips (via p.m., thanks again) I recharged without problems at Union Hotel in Geiranger. They have three 22kW chargers where you can pay in the reception: 50 Kr for a few hours. 100 kr for a whole day.

In Alesund (Spjelkavik in fact) I had to recur to Gronn Kontakt chargers in Amfi Moa center because I wasn't able to charge at BEST WESTERN Baronen Hotell. They told me in advance that I could but when we arrived the said the contrary, that they didn't have any plug for electric cars.  >:(

Hi, and nice to hear that you will visit Norway, and a cool honeymoon.
1: You can use Type 2, and also Chademo IF you have a chademo adapter.
2: Yes, EV can drive "for free" at toll roads if it has a "bombrikke"
If it`s a rental car, it will most likely be included and allready mounted.
3and 4: I`m not quite sure how this works in Norway( I have a membership at "grønn kontakt" and swipe my membercard when I charge) For Tourists I assume you can call the telefonnumbers that are listed at the Chargers, and they open it OTA for you after payment information is confirmed (VISA/Mastercard)

As O.b.lix pointed, I think you ment Kristiansund. For the trip to Ålesund, you can stop at Aspøya Supercharger (outside Kristuiansund).  In Ålesund there are NO superchargers, only one(at the moment) 22kW Type 2, but 2 Chademo if you have the chademo adapter. You will need some "juice" to get to Geiranger from Ålesund, but I assume you can get faster charging at the Tesla Service Center(not sure if they have gotten their workshop supercharger yet, but they have 22kW for free)
In Geiranger you have two possible Type 2 chargers. At the Fjordcenter and by the Geiranger hotel.
That's the only info I can contribute.
Can you confirm that there is a free 22kw charger at Tesla SC in Alesund? I can't see it in any charging map.  Also do you know the methods to pay in the 22kw chargers in Geiranger? I'm going to do a similar road trip with a P95 rented in nabobil. Thanks

I would bet for the Think in summer test. The 4kw heater is a battery killer...

summer test: http://blog.uppladdning.nu/2015/08/real-life-summer-range-nissan-leaf-2014.html

real winner at the end?

"the Think runs with the newest firmware and hides 15% of the battery capacity which means that one could drive to 0% without any negative impact on the NaCl (Zebra) battery longevity."

Have anyone tried to run to %0 to see when the car stops. I have done 3-4km with "fuel" lamp flashing but didn't dare to continue. I would like to know the limit...

[edit]: Latest firmware (hex file) is from now kept in my last thread in this post!

The OVMS is now up and running both on SMS and on the App, presenting charging parameters (line voltage and current), SOC, Charge state, battery temperature and GPS location.

The hex file which I've made (OVMS-ThinkCity_13082013_v1-0_hex.txt) is attached and can be used of all.
Please rename the file before use to OVMS-ThinkCity_13082013_v1-0.hex
The version is only tested on Zebra-Think with gen1-PCU, but I might think it will work on all cars ...
You can flash is from any computer (Win, Linux and Mac) with free MPLAB X IDE.
You don't need to know much about programming to flash it to a ovms-unit.

The only two things you need to make sure of is:
1) "Preserve EEPROM memory" is checked (otherwise you need to give all SMS-commands every time you reprogram)
2) Make your programmer (PICKIT 2 or PICKIT3) supply +5V to the OVMS module.

Preserve EEPROM and set +5V:
1) Start MPLAB X IDE -> Run -> Set Project Configuration -> Customize
2) Click on your programmer, drop down "Option Categories" = "Memories to Program"
3) Check "Preserve EEPOROM memory" -> Apply
4) Click on your programmer, drop down "Option Categories" = "Power"
5) Check "Power target circuit from PIKkit" and chose Voltage level 5.0
6) Apply -> OK

To flash your OVMS unit:
1) Start MPLAB X IDE, click "File" and then "Import Hex (Prebuilt)  Project"
2) Prebuilt filename : browse to your hex.file (OVMS-ThinkCity_13082013_v1-0.hex)
3) Family: "Advanced 8-bit MCUs (PIC18)
4) Device: PIC18F2685
5) Hardware tool: "click on your programming device, e.g. PICkit3
6) Next -> Next -> Finish
7) Check that programming was finished successful.

To get it running, simply follow this manual (for Tesla Roadster) in detail, it works for all vehicles:
https://raw.github.com/markwj/Open-Vehicle-Monitoring-System/master/docs/OVMS_UserGuide_TeslaRoadster.pdf
I strongly recommend you to write down all users and passwords according do page 6 in the document

The SMS registration needed to configure are the following commands (this is explained in the manual above):
REGISTER OVMS
PASS "your_ovms_modul_password" (the passord is set in this command) e.g. PASS OvModSecret123
MODULE "your self made Vehicle ID" K - TC  (TC = Think City, K = Km) e.g. MODULE NO5001 K - TC
SERVER 64.111.70.40 "your Open Vehicle Password" -  e.g. SERVER 64.111.70.40 OvServSecret123 -
GPRS "apn" - - (apn can be telenor or netcom or whatever your provider have) e.g. GPRS telenor - -

You can check if the GPRS-settings are OK by sending
GPRS?

Good luck, and please report back if someone tries this! :)

/Håkon

Ok. After two months waiting for the module to arrive, OVMS is up and running with "Zebralín". Instructions above still are fine. In my case, I had to use 4.5V instead of 5V in the project options and I think you have to import first the .hex file in a new project to be able to change the value of options (preserve EEPROM and voltage). Then, select RUN to program the device.

thanks
