Is it possible to charge Leaf in Tesla supercharger as both use Mennekes Type 2 socket?

No. The Leaf only has Type 1 and CHAdeMO. Even if it had Type 2 it still wouldn't be possible to charge it at a supercharger. Only Teslas can be charged there.

The new leaf has a Mode 3 Type 2 connecter same as Tesla EU uses. Tesla US has a proprietary connecter. So physically it will fit but I am not sure if it can do the handshake and charge.

If the new Leaf has a Type 2, it can be plugged in, but it can't be charged. Only Teslas are supported.

Tesla could allow other car companies access to the supercharger network, but it would require additional hardware and software in the cars.

I think nobody else than Tesla is running DC over the Type 2 connector.

Renault Zoe uses the Type 2 connector up to 43 kW thru DC AC on the first modell.

Yes, that's three-phase AC. I think Tesla is the only one doing DC over Type 2. The standard does however support DC over Type 2, but only up to 70 kW. Tesla has tweaked the standard a bit to allow for 120 kW.

Type 2 is AC charging, Tesla has a proprietary charging solution which allows them DC. If the Leaf will follow the standard like VW, BMW etc. the DC charging will use the coms via type 2 socket and charge via two pins beneath the type 2 socket (CCS/combo), and it will not work on Tesla SuC.

Per definition, but can you name any car but Tesla that utilizes DC through the type 2 socket?

As far as I understand Tesla uses a modified version that supports 240A/500V = 120kW instead of the 70kW limited standard, which means it is a proprietary type.

The lower one on that illustration for DC high is CCS/Combo, which supports a higher rate than type 2 (100kW at 500V).

I believe the superchargers are 330A/500V, so 165 kW max. But the battery pack max voltage at under 70% SOC is more like 360V, so 330A x 360V = 119 kW.

Charge rate depends on the voltage out from the charger, not the battery state. I have never seen any information that SuC delivers more than 120kW (at 480/500V). Any sources?

Its interesting because competition are apparantly now starting to build 150kW chargers...

The label in the SuperChargers say 410V maximum, not 500V.
